What is this fresh nonsense?

All right.

I know that we all take a risk when engaging in social media, and you can believe me when I tell you that few people pay closer attention to managing that risk than Yours Truly. I have all applications blocked on Facebook, my profile is locked down tight except to friends, I never use my real name (or especially my Facebook identity) when commenting on forums or news articles, and I have an alternate email reserved for purposes whereby I might receive inordinate amounts of spam. I am not careless.

Yet, Domino’s Pizza not only found me (because I happened to be logged into Facebook when I ordered a pizza from them online), but they posted a link to their site — as me — on my own Facebook wall. I was told by a friend in the restaurant business that the company rolled out a new TOS that enables them to do this.

Well, where was the email to all the site users, telling them of this change? While I admit that I don’t read the 4500-word (yes, I pasted the TOS into Word and did a count) agreement EVERY TIME I ORDER, this came out of left field, completely. And I don’t like them for it.

In fact, I don’t like them so much, I had to tell them about it. It was among my best work.

I suppose I should also insert an additional reason for my Domino’s divorce. The last two times we’ve ordered, the Thriller has made the “wet dog” comment. Their sauce or dough seasonings or something reminds him of the smell of a wet dog. If that alone isn’t a reason to say bye-bye-bye, I don’t know what is.

Regardless, we’re done with the three dots, and they’re done hijacking my social media identity. And for good measure, I removed the “TM” from the logo before I put the red circle on it. Take that, homie. Hmm. Must be Snark Week around these parts.

For sure, it’s Go to Bedford and Buy the Car day. Oy…could this be why I’m fussy this morning? Saying bye-bye-bye not only to the dots, but the dough?

I hope I don’t chicken out, but if I do, you will know it was for a good reason.

Stay tuned! Rant over.

Truly a day which will live in infamy!!! First 1941 in Pearl Harbor, then 2012 in Ohio!

Good for you for taking action. Too many times I think Americans are so anesthetised by various factors that we let many things go by the wayside. We seem somehow unwilling or unable to stand up and say something about what we feel is unfair or just plain wrong. I watched ‘Forrest Gump’ last night on HBO and the section where he and Jenny are in DC made me think – that would not happen today. We as a people don’t stand up to the government or big corporations like they did in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Wonder what happened to us?
But that is a discussion for another day.

Good luck with the new Finkmobile. You know who to call if it isn’t all you hoped for! :)

      Gofit, girl! Tell ’em!

I think it’s going to be good (the new car). I’m still honeymooning with it — it’s beautiful! But I suppose I’ll wait until it gains 40 lbs. and turns all gray & wrinkly to make my final decision. I do know where to go if we need to go our separate ways!

Whatever you do, just DON’T make Papa John’s your replacement pizza supplier. I find the taste & quality of their ingredients suspect at best. And the “garlic sauce” is not only nasty, but an UBER-fat bomb!

And then there’s their politics as of late regarding the health & well-being of their employees. Don’t tell me you can afford to GIVE AWAY 2 million pizzas for an NFL promotion, but rail against a comparable drop-in-the-bucket increase to employee heathcare costs as a result of the Affordable Care Act. [end rant]

    :D

I wouldn’t touch that garlic “sauce” if it was the last thing on earth! NASTY.

There’s a place here in town called “Besta Fasta,” and their pizza is actually really good — as are pies from the Hut. We’ve never really loved Papa John’s anyway, and have only ordered from them once or twice in 15+ years.

There was a time when I disliked pizza, PERIOD. Do you believe it? When I was a pre-teenager, I wouldn’t touch the stuff. Hated it. Now though…love it. And what a lifesaver for a no-fuss dinner!
