Drinky test, drinky test

How I hate you. *hork*

I get to drink some icky stuff, then wait. Drink, wait, repeat — for four hours today. Yay! At least I can get some work done before driving back from Cleveland and to school for rehearsal tonight.

School’s on a 2-hour delay because of snow…but it’s supposed to be 49 degrees tomorrow. Wacky!

Up for air

Saturday was not fun. Mavis and I did some shopping yesterday, which was a real bright spot, but other than that, there was no joy. However, today is different. Oh wait…today is all work, too.

Nevermind.

I’m supposed to have company later this morning — maybe that will brighten my day. Ever have one of those mornings when even going back to bed doesn’t seem to be a viable option? I think it’s just that time of the year. It happens. Ah well…nothing that a café mocha won’t fix. Be right back.

And there we go. I was going to review The Rum Diary for you this morning, but decided against it — mostly because it left me not really caring. It was mildly entertaining (it’s Johnny, after all, luvs), but overlong. Depp gave too many Jack Sparrowish puzzled-and-grossed-out looks; the plot was fractious, the bad guys stereotyped…basically a disappointment. Blah.

But hey, there’s always The Godfather II. Turned on the set at 10:00 last night, and there it was on AMC. Nice way to end the evening!

And, in case you don’t frequent Facebook for my pithy updates: we’re almost there. :-)

TGIF indeed

And while I’m not really sure why I’m so hap-hap-happy it’s Friday, given the amount of work I have to do this weekend (and no sleepover with the Js), I’m glad to have gotten through it all the same. Aren’t you? It’s another week closer to summer fun.

The time is coming when I will feel the need to rant about the upcoming changes in the teacher evaluation system. I feel it like an underground lava river. I posted this cartoon on Facebook last night:

Truthfully? That’s the gist of the thing. But I won’t get into it now. Just wanted to bring your kind attention to the “drive-by” aspect of this debacle. I will also be affected somehow, but they don’t know how yet. I don’t think they know what to do with us (specialists), since our subject is not tested at the state level. I imagine some edspeak robot will come up with a way to funnel the essence of singing, acting and dancing into an extended response question. Atta boys.

Hey, I said I wasn’t going to yammer about this today. It’s payday! Yay!   It’s time to pay bills now! Boo!

Happy Finkday, fiends — hugs all around.

Drank the Kool-Aid again

Or the coffee. Oi. Yes, I am ashamed to say that yesterday, I had the Thriller pick up a pint-sized Keurig for my classroom. Does that make me a bad person? I mean, I’ve kept my “no coffee at school” resolution for a couple of years now.

Wait a minute — aren’t I supposed to be caring less about what folks might think of me? What about that resolution?

Yeah. OK, so — look at my new pretty thing. Yay for me! Fortunately, it has no water reservoir; therefore, I have to actually put in the water every time I want some coffee. I figure I shouldn’t have any problem sticking with 2 cups a day (one late morning, one afternoon), unless I feel the need for some jazzin’ before rehearsal. That ought to delight my students, HA

So there it is. I’ve outed myself about it, and I’m not ashamed anymore. At least I don’t think I am. Should I be? Yikes. Are you disappointed?

:P

Have a good Thursday, fiends. I can almost see the finish line of the Week What Would Not End.

FO

Where’d Monday go?

It went the way of my aching joints: down the rabbit hole. Last night at rehearsal, a student asked me if there were any tap routines in the show we’re doing. Mercifully, no.

Creak, moan, complain, whine, blah. OK, over & done! On to better things today, with ever-faithful assistance from Aleve.

Stuff on my reptilian brain this morning:

  1. I have struggled for two days, trying to find the best way to reduce the size of an MP4 file without sacrificing too much quality, when I could have just asked BoomR or Tom Hanks how to do it. *smack*
  2. There is a lot more dancing to be done for this show. A lot. Maybe I’ll make that appointment for the cortisone shot after all.
  3. It’s supposed to be 61 degrees tomorrow. In Ohio. In February. I swear, if all my bulbs start to break the surface…
  4. The inflow of new tasks on the wait list is inversely proportional to the speed with which I am able to complete them. Isn’t that just the way?

Time to shut down, finish the coffee, and hit the shower. Uh…can someone help me up?
