Now wait just a minute here.

I mean, really. What’s the big idea, waking up at 3:45 a.m. on the nose for the third straight day? What am I, George Lutz? Honestly. Too much going on this week to go to bed at 11:30 and be insomniatic at a quarter to four.

I suppose it could be that I’m on the fifth day of my gluten-free/sugar-free/dairy-free lifestyle and I’m still getting adjusted; I miss cheese and milk and cereal and bread and Milky Ways. I like how I feel, don’t get me A) wrong, or B) started on the problems that processed sugar and wheat cause for millions of people and they don’t even know it. [Do a search on gluten intolerance to see what I mean.] I guess, as the Thriller has said to me on occasion in the past: I “just wanna be mad.”

Speaking of mad…Mad Men last night was one of those “connecting” episodes. They’re setting up something big. I wish it were a 2-hour show.

Anyway, j’ever have one of those days, when you just wanted to be mad? Actually, I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t, so you’d be the first.

But I won’t dwell on it. There’s too much to do, and besides, there are plenty of other places to read incessant whining. That’s why God made political blog comment sections, and the forums at ClevelandBrowns.com. So cool it, Finkly.

OK I’m STILL MAD. But look on the bright side of life: school starts tomorrow. Yay! I’ma go drown my sorrows with a cherry-vanilla smoothie.

PS – I guess my discontent could also be because….nah.

I’m slowly becoming more Lactose Intolerant so I can sympathize a little with anyone who’s become Gluten Intolerant. Trying to go light on diary is hard enough, I could imagine having to go light on bread or eating some of the Gluten Free bread. Some of it tastes kinda nasty.

Good luck with the first day of school tomorrow even if it is on your birthday also.

Thanks, Will. And yep – I think I miss dairy more than bread. Love me some cheese every day, and real whipped cream in my coffee. I adore yogurt and ice cream, and milk on my cereal. That’s out the window, too. But like I told BoomR, I am going to slowly try to reintroduce *some* foods at a later date. If they still send me over the edge, out they go. But if I find I can tolerate them, I’ll include them as a once-in-awhile thing.

I’ve decided to not try every gluten-free substitute recipe out there. Nothing will taste like the real thing, so I will just get over it and stop trying to find the golden ticket.

On to school indeed! Are you done, or do you have another year?

A co-worker of mine recently found out he was gluten-intolerant & now that he’s on the correct kind of diet, he’s feeling better than he ever has. I never drink milk – I think we’re the only creatures on this earth that drink milk as adults & there’s plenty of stuff out there on why milk is not really good for non-infants. On the rare occasions where I break down & have some ice cream, I wake up all congested the next day… so I hear you. Good luck on the new diet.

Less than 24 hrs to the next milestone, eh? :-)

Right you are, BoomR, and we’re the only species on the planet that drinks the milk of another species.

At first I wasn’t sure there’d be anything left other than rabbit food to eat! But after I got my book & menu & stuff, although my non-veggie choices are somewhat more limited, I do have a lot of selection to enjoy. I have to do it, regardless. Maybe at some later time, I can try reintroducing some foods in small quantities. I do miss ice cream too!

Yes…I guess I will drag my tiny bird feet into tomorrow without too much fight. Wouldn’t do me much good anyway, would it?!?!

I happen to know two people who are gluten-intolerant; one since birth and the other just recently. I couldn’t imagine having to be on a gluten or dairy-free diet because I’ll eat about everything. Except for BBQ sauce. Blech.
    Also, happy (early) birthday!

Thanks Kristen, Miss Huron Fair Queen 2009! Congrats to you as well!

I thought the same thing, and I’m the pickiest eater ALIVE. But I’m finding I just had to change my attitude (which was horrible). But…I *do* plan on having a piece of birthday cake if I want one!
      :-)

Have a good semester at OSU.
