Xenon II

Wednesday update:

The more time I spend with these people, the more I like them. Yesterday, we sat around for a few minutes and told something interesting about ourselves. They are interesting indeed: from Rachel, who owns a microscopic Yorkshire Terrier, to John, who is one of seven children, to Brooke, who spelunks in rural West Virginia — every one of them had something cool to say.

And everybody’s boppin’.

Fink out.

Thanks, Suz. I hope they are having fun. Seems like they are. But, as with all good things, I’m glad the end is in sight. It’s been a demanding week. But the concert tonight should be good, and the one tomorrow as well. Everyone’s ready to do this thing!

Awesome tune indeed, ladybird. My ensemble seem to like it as well. I also rewrote Flip, Flop & Fly for SATB…got some good scat solos going on it. Fun! You need to consider doing this camp next year.

THIS sort of thing is my only regret on not being in public school education – working with the ones that “get it” and WANT to be there to make good music and learn! I’m dying to hear recordings & see videos! Hope you have a great rest of the week!

Hey Boomy – how was the training gig?

And I hear you about the “wanting to be there” thing. It is rewarding indeed. I wish it could spill over more into everyday music ed, you know?

Listen — you have GOT to hear this Uninvited thing the 5 faculty members did. It is SICK! Some perspective: I tested out of both years of sight-singing and aural training in undergrad, and I *still* blew two measures of this bad boy yesterday. I couldn’t find the flippin pitch!!! You have to hear this thing. Insane. I’ll try to get it uploaded to YouTube as soon as Brad gets the DVD edited and sent out.
