30 Day Challenge 24

Day 24
What country or area (to which you’ve never traveled) would you like most to visit?

Definitely the British Isles. I’ve been to London, but not to England’s more remote locales, or to Scotland, Wales or Ireland. Most of my ancestors came from that area; I’d really like to take a leisurely trip through the villages, and enjoy the countryside. Someday I will do this, even though I will need a Valium drip for the flight over.

Anyone else feel POMmy like me, or do you yearn for more exotic venues?

Definitely not China or Japan. Their food is too *hOrK* – ish. The whole culture just doesn’t appeal to me.

As to where I want to go…Italy to see Il Giro d’Italia, Poland to see the Tour of Poland, Spain to see La Vuelta, and back to California to see the Tour of California! hahaaha

No really. Yeah ok well I would really like to see those races. But Italy and the Italian Alps are definitely on the wishlist, Poland — Auschwitz in particular, Australia, any tropical island where there’s a lounge chair with my name on it and a waiter to bring me drinks, Egypt to see the pyramids, any of the Greek islands.

All in my backyard so to speak. I’ll get there one day!

Of course when Fink and Thriller come to the UK we will meet up with you!!!

Yes indeedy on Asian food. No horkfests for me either, thanks — Helen can have our share! And girl, I have been through the Italian Alps and they are beautiful — talk about feeling very, very small…

We’d never hit Europe without seeing you and Harold, babe!

I heard once that there are tons of Vivaldi manuscripts in a library somewhere (Florence?) just waiting to be transcribed. If I could get a grant to take my little laptop and Finale program over there I’d do it in a heartbeat. I might never come home.

Have ALWAYS wanted to go visit Australia & New Zealand – never been there. I keep trying to coax my boss into sending me down there for a business trip, but so far no-go!

I’d love to go there, too. I know several people up here who’ve been, and they can’t say enough about it. I just checked — Cisco is EVERYWHERE!

I have always wanted to go to an Asian country, particularly Thailand. I have always thought South America would be neat to. My wish came true, because this summer, I am going to El Salvador with 12 friends and 3 adults for a missions trip :) Can you say Scared???? lol I’m so excited to go, I can’t wait.

Congratulations on your mission trip, Hannah! (And for surviving your freshman year of high school!) You and Helen can enjoy Thailand, and eat red curry to your hearts’ content. I’ll provide the breath mints. :P

Isn’t that where your father’s side originates? Your maiden name has to be British.

Wow Fink, I never thought that I would encounter another person that didn’t like Asian food, LOL! Looks like Suzanne shares your hOrK -ishness about it, Ha! :)
As for me, I love genealogy and being connected to my “roots,” especially because both sets of my grandparents were immigrants. And since I am already well connected to my Mexican paternal heritage, I would absolutely love to go to Sweden and visit where my maternal family is from. If I had only one place to see, I’d like to travel to Stockholm. However, if I had multiple trips in my life, and had already visited Sweden, then I’d choose any country known for its amazing food i.e. France or Italy, or any number of Asian countries LOL. Like Hannah, I’ve also always wanted to go to Thailand. I grew up right by a very authentic very delicious Thai restaurant and have wanted to go to Thailand for the food ever since I was a kid! Nom nom! :)

LOL – Now see how nice we are, Helen? Suzanne and I just move over and let alla y’all enjoy all the Asian food. :P But I’m right there with you on the Italian and French cuisine. Sounds like a great plan for a second honeymoon someday!

I never knew your mom was Swedish! My grandfather (on Papa’s side) was a descendant of Swedish immigrants also. In fact, when my grandma would get frustrated with Grandpa (it happened often, HA), she’d say, “Lloyd! Ya dumb Swede!” He’d just laugh. Boy did I get a kick out of that as a kid. Thanks for the memory, luv!
