A better day

brellaratY’know…

Here’s what I need to do. I need to stop reading news that makes me mad. Check that. I don’t need to stop reading news that makes me mad, I just need to stop allowing bigots, politicians and profiteers to dictate my mood after reading it.

To the John Kasichs and Rick Perrys and Pearson Corporations and Bill Gateses and Arne Duncans and Rahm Emanuels of the world: I block you. I exorcise you not from my consciousness, but from my conscience. I will no longer take on your idiocy as my personal problem.

I “tested the waters” on my Facebook page with regard to my disgust and rage against the Common Core machine. All of my teacher friends, I think, are afraid to “come out” on the matter. Likely, there are many who are scared of losing their jobs, or causing a backlash against teachers in our small district. I have to regroup and decide another course of action.

But this day, I decide that I will enjoy my work, gain a feeling of accomplishment, and call the day a success. How about you? What are you going to do today to make you feel great by bedtime tonight?

I must admit it helps that the sun is actually out in Ohio this morning, and the view from my front porch is bright and pretty. Yay, God’s not mad at us anymore, and people in my area can start cleaning up the flood and wind damage.

So, as David Hartman used to say on Good Morning, America in the olden tymes: “Get out there and make it a good day.” I’ll do it, Dave!

Way to go Fink!!! My favorite definition of success is that you are successful the moment you take the first step towards a worthwhile goal! I spend each and everyday trying to do five things: – learn something new, – love someone, – serve someone, – fail at something, -listen to things and people that make my heart dance!
It’s not that I do not care about the Monsantos, or Keystone, or (pick any kaka for brain politician), I do care but ultimately only I can dictate my happiness. For sure they can impact my comfort or my safety or even my pocket book but they cannot touch my heart. (Besides, Liz makes me turn off the news when she sees my emotional involvement rise too high) :)
I know you…and have always known beyond doubt that you made this old world a better place! To your success!!!!!!

      Liz is a smart woman!

I love your daily goals list. And I need to learn how to better manage my world, so I don’t capitulate to all the crap that I read. I have always been a “feelings on the sleeve” type of person to an extent, and I am easily riled and easily wounded because of it. I’ve worked on that to a huge degree over the past 15 years or so, and I’ve made progress, but there is still much to do.

I need the Thriller to pull a Liz when I get all janked up about Common Core! HA

My two sons are my facebook police, if I start getting too political I get a call from them reminding me to chill…makes me laugh and appreciate their love all the more. So…now I sometimes post comments just to rile them..it is the little joys in life, like messing with your kids that make it all worthwhile.
To your day … oh yeah, wear short sleeves!

I am the same way when I read about and/or see pictures of all the horrible poaching and animal abuse that is occurring for the sake of money. I have had to delete people from my Facebook “friends” and don’t visit certain websites because of the pictures or videos they post. It’s just too much and I get this sense of being overwhelmed and a “what can I possibly do???” feeling. I do donate some money to some good sites but then I wonder if my money is actually used for what I hope is a good cause and not to line someone’s pocket.

So Chevy is spoiled to death and the birdies in the backyard are spoiled and every cat I come across (or dog) gets attention from me if they want it. That’s what I do to make myself feel better. :)

I wish I had a front porch to sit on. Especially if I was drinking coffee with Ms. Jax. <3

I remember you making a statement on FB that you weren’t going to look at that stuff anymore. Same way with me and the Humane Society TV commercials they show over here. I have to turn the channel; I can’t bear to watch, because all I do is sit and bawl and want to go adopt every dang mongrel in the pound.

Still, I’m glad you are a patron saint to those lonely critters who need love! You’re their St. Francis! :-) If more people in this world would show that kindness to *all* creatures — canine, feline and homo sapien — we’d have a better universe.

I hope hope HOPE you can sit on my front porch and drink coffee with me this fall! *crossing everything*
