Idaho

Yep. Northern Idaho, to be exact.

There is plenty of beauty on this trip, for sure. I’ve posted some photos to Facebook along the way (this being one of my favorites — Hot Springs, Montana), and they all carry the theme of “Great Wide Open.” Sky and mountains and water, as far as one can see across the endless vistas. You can grow accustomed to it.

Yesterday, we crossed into northern Idaho, and beheld one of the prettiest, cleanest, and from what I could tell from the road, most happening cities I’ve ever seen: Coeur d’Alene. I was too busy gawking to take photos, so I didn’t get any of the true gemstone of this city: Lake Coeur d’Alene. Wow, I want to be there. I want to live there someday.

Anyway. After the last two unfortunate nights of sleep (in a Microtel that gave new meaning to the adjective “micro,” and the very interesting Lake McDonald “cabin”), we drove through the gorgeous Flathead Valley to scenic ski mecca Kalispell (pictured), and through Idaho to Washington.

Northwest Montana and northern Idaho? Nothing beats it, in my opinion.

We got into Spokane late afternoon, and spent the evening vegging. After the miserable night’s sleep on Thursday, it was much needed!

Today, I think we’re going to Mt. Rainier. Or is it Mt. St. Helens? I dunno, and the Thriller is still sleeping. But I do know it’s Saturday. Are you impressed?? :P OK, I looked at the calendar. Have a good weekend, fiends — check ya later with some fotos.

Wouldn’t it be just heaven to live there?!! Such beauty. Yes, it amazes and impresses me that you knew what day it is. You’ve been having such a wonderful time, I surprised you even looked at the calendar! :-) I hope the rain stays away so you can see your mountain today! Love you both!

We are having a great time, Mavis! The internet connections are somewhat spotty, to say the least. But I think we’re good for awhile this afternoon in Packwood. Going to the Stagecoach Espresso Stand (it’s now called “Cowboy Coffee,” haha) — I’ll text you a photo!! <3

Wide open spaces in the summer are lovely. Winters? Not so. Haaaa :) We went to Montana when I was a teen and were camping on a ridge somewhere near Helena, I think. The most awesome-est white-est big-est moon rose. I’ve seen some other awesome moonrises in the desert but that one was the best-est.

H and I have caught the traveling bug and are making fall plans. TENTATIVE. Stay tuned.

What a country with its magnificent and awesome terrains! We are also experiencing our days running together and asking each other, “What day is this?” We’re getting road weary and are homeward bound. Thanks to you and Thriller for the pics you have posted.

Hey fiend — I know the feeling! After a few weeks, the road makes you tired. I believe that you can only take so much hootenanny, then it’s time to settle down and go home. Glad you’re on the far side of the trip, but I know you guys have had a blast! Can’t wait to get together and compare notes.

Hey! You missed the gig last night…what’s up with that?? :D ((SMEWCH))

I actually had a few people tell me how much they enjoyed last Saturday night, and one of my frequent “high-roller” customers told me that he & his wife were uber-bummed that they couldn’t make it (Lynn’s mom took a bad fall Sat afternoon & they had to attend to her). I hate to say it, but you may be required for an encore performance at some time in the future.

Put that in yer pipe & smoke it…. and now, on with the travel photos, please!!
    XOXOX to ya both!!

Aw, how nice!! Well you can tell them next time you see them that I had an absolute ball doing that gig. In fact, Lars said to me in a text the other day, “So, does this change your mindset about your ‘retirement’?” Hmmmmmm….

Smokin’ on it right now, babe…. XO
