Halfway there

So I didn’t get any choreography done yesterday, but I did get a start on some cake pop ideas. The bride and groom stopped by the house to visit and look at them, and they didn’t turn around and flee into the night, so I guess we’ll build on these designs. Not totally happy with how some of them turned out, but we shall keep working to perfect things.

Therefore, today shall be my dancing day…or maybe tomorrow. :-)

Someone posted a picture of macaroni and cheese on Facebook last night, and it got me to craving some, so I made up a batch, and the Thriller and I will nosh on it with sandwiches for our Super Bowl dinner. I long ago pledged that I would not make a big deal out of Super Bowl eats until it was my team playing in it. Which means, well…you know. Heh.

But first: Sunday morning waffles and scrambled eggs.  Time to get a move on. Enjoy your day, fiends — may the better team win. And we hope it’s the 49ers.

Let’s commence

Let’s commence to commence. Much to do on this Saturnday, and most of it has to do with two of my favorite things outside of spending time with my grandsons:

Food and dancing. Dancing and food. And food.

Dancing food.

*Yay*

Today I will create some cake pops for our fiend (and fellow Finkite) Rae, who will marry the handsome Heffe this May. She has asked me to provide cake truffles on sticks as table favors for her wedding guests, so I plan to get my creative on today and see what I can come up with. Then it’s choreography for the Joseph Act One finale.

What’s up for your day? I’m sure it will be much more fun if you include dancing food.

Now to find someone to help me sample all these treats…hmmm…

:-D

Finkday at last

sarcasratAnd what a week it’s been, sports fans. Stream-of-consciousness thunderbirds are GO:

So Fox News says that Beyoncé sang the Star Spangled Banner at a press conference with “no background music.”

*wiggle fingers* WooOoOOoOOoooOOo.

Do I snark? Do I sarcazz? Should any half-decent singer be able to pull that off? Yes, yep, and duh. Two snippity questions:

1. So what?
2. Qui s’en soucie?

And speaking of the National Anthem, I will go on record as saying my newest rep at the Cleveland Indians front office (and by “newest,” I mean there’s a higher turnover rate in that position than at McDonalds or Denny’s) is less than courteous. Don’t sass me, little girl. I’m just trying to make your job easier. (Not that it matters, because you’ll “move on” next week.)

Nothing in life is assured, except that at some point, it comes to an end. Your health, your net worth, your job security…it’s all fair game. It’s easy to become complacent and think that certain elements in your life are set in stone, when in fact, they can be as fleeting as the shifting sand. Enjoy and value every moment, fiends.

I have had a week of darn good rehearsals at school, both during the day with the choirs and at night with the cast. The suspense is terrible; I hope it’ll last.

I saw an interview with Gene Wilder. Did you know his real name is Jerry Silberman? He told the interviewer he couldn’t quite see a marquee reading “Jerry Silberman as Macbeth,” so he took “Gene” from a character he liked in the story Look Homeward, Angel and “Wilder” from his admiration of playwright and novelist Thornton Wilder.

The previous two paragraphs are actually connected. Care to say how? First fiend to provide the correct answer gets a big fat ol’ Hershey’s Chocolate Bar. (Git it? Huh? Chocolate? Git it? :-D )

All right. Time to go pay some bills before hitting the shower and the road. Vive Vendredi!!

PS – Happy birthday, Daddy!

Super Bowl plans?

Anybody have any?

I’m not telling anyone who I’m rooting for to win, because whichever team I pick — matters not the sport — always loses. So shhhhhhh. Be vewwy quiet.

Besides, I’ve always felt that until MY team plays in the Super Bowl, it’s just another football game, which explains why I never have any plans for Super Bowl Sunday. (And likely never will.)

Now you just have yourself a fabulous Thursday, because you know what tomorrow is.

100th day of school?

100Someone just posted that on Facebook. “Happy 100th day of school!”

This crept up on me. Usually, elementary school students have some kind of fun, commemorative lesson on the 100th day, having to do with the number 100, or some other activity. What it means to me is we’re on the home stretch. I just hadn’t realized that today was the day. Eighty-three days left, and so much to do.

You know, if you’re in the area on 22-23 March, you should consider yourself invited to our production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I had a “brothers” rehearsal last night, and I must say they are going to be fine. Fun show, great music, short! (just a little over an hour in length).

The interesting thing about Joseph is that it’s very much like an opera. Well, it actually is an opera, in that there are no spoken lines. All “dialogue” is sung, and the plot moves forward through the songs themselves, and each new scene is set up by the singing narrator (in our case, we have two: a couple of gals with wonderful voices). It is a very different format for our students, as all of our musicals in the past have been standard-issue, learn-your-lines Broadway.

Anyway, back to 100. Bring on the springtime!
