What Are You Doing…

…New Year’s Eve?

That’s a song, you know. I say that all the time to my students, when I hear a phrase that’s part of an old song. That’s a song, you know. Sometimes, they look as if they don’t believe me and I have to prove it to them. Then they wish they hadn’t said anything. HA

But no, really: What are you doing this New Year’s Eve? The Thriller and I never seem to think far enough ahead to make reservations anywhere (it’s our anniversary today), so we rarely go out. But it’s fun anyway, because we usually do something fun around the house. Tonight, we’re getting together with Kay and Bob for pizza, snacks and Midnight in ParisYay! Have you seen it yet? If not, you must. It’s an emergency. It’s New Year’s Eve, and you need to get your feel-good on.

We won’t “ring in the new year” together, as K & B will also be bringing Kay’s elderly mother, Miss Kitty, and they will need to get her back at a decent hour. I rarely stay up past 10:30-11:00 lately, and “watching the ball drop” has never really been a big deal to me anyhow. Rather, I just wake up on the 1st and think, “Hey, it’s next year.”

So what’s up for you this New Year’s Eve? Anything fun planned?

5th year in a row for BluVox and I to play NYEve at Chamberlain’s. it’s not the best NYE pay I’ve ever gotten, but the free food, drink, and good tips make up for it (as well as good people). One of our “high roller” customers every year pops the cork on a bottle of either 100 or 150 year old port wine as a part of their tradition. After everyone at the table has their toast, Garnett brings the bottle over to the piano with a couple glasses. We also get to enjoy a toast, as well as take what’s left of the bottle home with us!! Yum!!

Hope you all have a SUPER FUN night!!! Luv U!!!! :D

How FUN is that? And any kind millionaire with a name like “Garnett” — in Texas, no less — sounds like a great patron to have around! I know you guys always have fun on NYE. Wish we could be there enjoying it!

Love you guys! Happy New Year!

Yes, it’s corny, but every year after midnight I call my relatives on the West coast and ask them “What year is it at your house???”. OK, ok it’s stupid but it’s a tradition and must be carried on. The upshot was last year when I was visiting Mom in California and got a call from my daughter in Pennsylvania. Guess what she asked me? :P

Guess I am grateful that I’ve lived long enough to be on the receiving end of my own silliness…

Happy and Prosperous New Year (and Happy Anniversary!) to you and the Thriller.

Right back at ya, PK! I’ll bet it was quiet at your place with all the babies gone. I hope you had a fantastic holiday. And corny humor works just fine around these parts. :-)

I, too, am grateful to still be around, especially after all the crap I put this old bod through. Time to be nicer to me!

      HNY, fiend!

I just had that discussion with scotty g. I was talking about brownie and about how every time I say something from a tune… he starts singing it. It only takes about 3 or 4 references before the punches fly. Then right away, based off of something I said, scott says “hey, that’s a good tune”. Didn’t know you did that, but I should have known! Not a bad way to live, though… where everything prompts a tune in your head? Could be worse… heh. :)
