In the movie Risky Business, Tom Cruise says something about yanking down your drawers and sliding on the ice. That’s kind of what’s going on here.
I’ve had to make all kinds of adjustments/cuts in the vocal and orchestral score for this show, and the kids are doing well with it. (Haven’t had orchestra rehearsal yet, so I don’t know about those krazy kats…but I’m sure it will be fine.)
Some people do really well with flying by the shoelaces; others freak. Some people do their homework little by little and just put finishing touches on it the night before it’s due; others wait till the last minute and pull an all-nighter (I’ve been guilty of this). Some people are like, “Feh,” and others worry and fret about every little thing in life. Takes all kinds, I suppose.
What kind are you? Are you the last-minute guy, or the “I’ve had it planned out and gradually processed for weeks” type? I guess you could be both, depending upon the situation. I tend to procrastinate on BU stuff, entering grades, the district website…but I am just about always prepared for choir rehearsals every day, and musical rehearsals every night. Me funny.
Several of my RtB fiends asked me what was going on with yesterday’s post (my wanting to commit various & sundry felonies). It was very much along the lines of improvisation: taking the unexpected garbage and making stroganoff out of it. Lemonade. You know.
All right. Enough psychoanalysis for today. I’ll leave that up to the Thriller.

…want to kill and maim. And kill. Feel me?
Fink out.
…back on your heads.
I wonder if any of my students (past or present) remember that joke. Heh.
So anyway, after a long weekend (some of you will notice I was unable to attend the inservice yesterday), it’s back to the grind. At least I got the paper done. Not sure if it’s what she wants, but…
I have an RNF or nine this day.
There is much more on my reptilian brain this morning, but alas, I must fly. Gotta load my stuff into that classic Mercedes and head to Green Town for detention duty.
Bliss.

I’m afraid so. Where did the weekend go?
Maybe some of you have today off work, it being Columbus Day & all. There’s no school today for us, but all the teachers have a big inservice to attend at a neighboring district. Too bad, though: I won’t be there. I have two appointments this morning. Rats.

Had rehearsal all afternoon on Saturday. Driving through the wilderness on my way to school, I noticed that the leaves are starting to turn. Fall has arrived in Ohio. Pretty. (Clicky)
My phone-studded piano during rehearsal.

Saturday night was Rockband 2 at #1 Son’s house. A lovely time was had by all, and I scored my very first 100%. The Rat rocked. So did Seamus, especially on the drums. And Lars “Testify”-ed to the amazement of all. Being a musician is fun; having sons who are also musicians is really fun. That they will invite their mama to make music with them is truly awesome icing. Sorry about the blurry photo…some of you will recognize the little girl to my left. Great fun.

Jake also had his turn beforehand:

And last night, RD and Bonnie took the Thriller and me to the Barn Restaurant for a belated birthday dinner. It was a fantastic time. Lots of laughing, talking, eating. And eating and more eating. It was great. I walked out with a box of their to-die-for cornbread mix, too, which I haven’t had for about 20 years. Yummy! Our fiends are awesome indeed.
And that was my weekend. Went by all too fast. But alas, now I must start working before my first appointment. A paper due tomorrow, and I haven’t even started. This is all getting really, really old…
Happy Monday!
