Synchronize your watches

Production week begins tomorrow.

Yesterday’s tech rehearsal was strange. Really strange. Stoney and I chatted as we put things away afterwards, and we realized that there were no nuclear explosions (can’t really remember a tech day that didn’t have one from one or both of us), no disasters we couldn’t handle, and no really horrifying gaffes in performance. Wow, how cool is that? Then we realized…

This is all very, very bad.

But, silly superstitions aside, the countdown is on, sports fans. After some fun with the Thriller today on my last official “day off,” and hopefully a short visit with grandson #3, I won’t see the surface until Saturday night around 10:30.

Of course, I’ll still check in with you, dear fiends. One does have one’s priorities. So enjoy what’s left of this lovely weekend — we’re all at it again tomorrow, ja? Oh, and a note to Apple: updating to 6.x on the iPad destroys *everything* on the device? Seriously?

One banana, two banana…

…three banana, four.

If you’re old enough to remember those lyrics (and the TV show they’re from), well…you’re old. HA

<begin non sequitur>

Actually, I was counting the days on my fingers till opening night. Today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. That’s how many rehearsals remain. You’d think that after going through this routine in some capacity for what — 35+ years now? — I’d have it down to a science. But it’s still unnerving, I must say.

For those who know the theater drill, the tech rehearsal (where actors rehearse with lights, mics and scene/costume changes for the first time) can be excellent, disastrous, or some mix of both. I’d be happy with C, because it definitely will not be A. Best part about the rehearsal? The food! Our Music Parents Organization is so good to us…we don’t deserve them.

But first, I must make some of those drop-dead espresso brownies. Then it’s on to Perkins for a birthday brunch for the lovely Simone, who turns 30-something tomorrow. After that, I hit the road and the theater for the rest of the day.

Five banana, six banana, seven banana eight. Better get movin’ or I’m gonna be…

:-D

Dieu merci, c’est vendredi

Thank the good Lord. Finkday at last.

Has this week dragged along for you? Sure has for me. Maybe it’s because of the weird schedule we’ve been on (2-hour delay, because of statewide testing for sophomores), and the rather late nights at rehearsal.

We had an extended hour of rehearsal last night to fix some problems with Joseph’s eleven brothers, and I must say it was beneficial. Lots of things went right.

Please cross everything crossable, and say a prayer that all 27 cast members and six crew remain healthy for the remainder of the run. It’s always a worry as opening night approaches, and students (and, admittedly, directors) are wrung out by late nights and school work.

Tomorrow is the tech rehearsal, where all trains go to derail. I’m going to try and squeeze in some grandson time (everything crossed here as well), and buckle the chin strap for the bumpy ride to follow.

You enjoy your weekend, fiends — thassanorder!

Yikes…time to go

Thanks to all who commented yesterday on my bizarre, 3-hour night of sleep. Both dogs are up right now, but that’s after I slept like a rock and my alarm woke me up. I’ve already milled this morning…now time to get going or I’ll be late, and we CAN’T HAVE THAT.

:P

Hugs to you all!

Oh, don’t mind me.

I’ve just been up with dogs since 1:53 a.m., because their insides were about to fall out and they needed to get outside, quick. (What on earth did the Thriller feed them before bed last night?) Of course, they came in and went right back to snoozing, and here I sit…

Are you able to go back to sleep once you’ve been awakened? I wish I were, but no dice. Once I’m up, the brain starts to wander hither and yon, and the day has begun. I actually went back upstairs at 3 and turned on the Nook to hopefully read myself to sleep for two hours, but by 4:00, I just bagged the whole thing and went down to the treadmill. Now it’s 5:35, and after some vanilla Greek yogurt with raspberries and a mug of café mocha, I’m ready to hit the shower, the road and the you-know-what.

But here’s something nice: we’re halfway to the weekend. :-D Looking forward to Friday and Sunday (my only days “off”), then the push to opening night.

Is it time to go home now?
