Share and share alike

Do you have a secret favorite site? If so, you must share it this day so the rest of us might benefit.

I have many, and as you might find completely unsurprising, one of my faves deals with etymology (*yawn*). For those who A) don’t know, or B) do know and don’t care:

et·y·mol·o·gy 1. The origin and historical development of a linguistic form as shown by determining its basic elements, earliest known use, and changes in form and meaning, tracing its transmission from one language to another, identifying its cognates in other languages, and reconstructing its ancestral form where possible.*

I know: geeky. But I do luv it so. Oh, here it is: phrases.org.uk

So share one of your favorite sites. Maybe I will bookmark it. It doesn’t have to be about anything geeky, mind. Just something you find really interesting. Ready, steady, go!

Headache this morning….yick. Karma.

I totally love BE! I have since run out and have had to buy store brands, which don’t hold a candle. Gotta save up my pennies and go back to the site…

And thanks for the kind words, pally! :-)

Well then, girlie, Mineral Madness is the site for you! They post all sorts of coupons for discounts and you keep up to date on the latest and greatest, not to mention this is a great group of addicts. Open an account and friend me.

Hang in there with BU. I think I’m going to start calling it PU.

Sorry Sambo! I have WordPress configured to hold all comments for approval if they contain more than one URL. I’ve had to approve most of today’s comments manually. I was AFK doing my (stupid) BU assignment, and didn’t hear the mail come in. It should be visible now!

I have to admit that I have abandoned most websites (except this one of course) and hang out mostly at Facebook. :)

I’ve become a huge fan of http://www.tvtropes.org. It’s a site that indexes the various tropes that occur in works of fiction. They’re exhaustive in their listing of occurrences and one can easily lose a few hours in about as much time as it takes to look up the meaning of the term “Hanging a Lampshade.” BTW, Hanging a Lampshade is anytime a writer takes something that threatens the willing suspension of belief, calls attention to it, often as a joke, than moves on quickly from there.
